    Good Morning All.
I am glad your pleased Helofadigge with the winner. And yes, lets see what he does make of America. All I heard was he was going to change America and he has no real experience.
I will say the jury is still out for this one.

I think it was the "warmonger" that won it for him.

People dont vote "for" a candidate, they tend to vote "against" the other one.

    The lesser of two evils.

Or have I got it all wrong.:)

Mcain had 2 things going against him, apart from Obama. His age and Bush. Oh, and his health and Palin. Oh yes, and the American public, and members of his own party.

I lived in Alabama in the 60s/70s ... Martin Luther King ... Ku Klux Klan (burning crosses in gardens, men in white robes hidden from view), rednecks who hated anyone not a redneck. I remember drinking fountains for whites and separate ones for blacks. I remember not being sold alcohol in the State Store (only sold in State Stores) because I stupidly went to the 'empty' service counter which turned out to be a black counter and I was white and had to go stand in a long queue with the rednecks ..... prejudice at its height and I was thoroughly disgusted with it all. It's one of the reasons I moved back to the UK.

I worked in criminal law then so it was very interesting to say the least. I had both black and white friends at that time and still do.

I wish Obana well .... he's got a difficult task ahead of him.

Dee, he is indeed a very brave man. If ever a president said , please assassinate me, it is this man. I believe, though, that he can carry on the work of JFK. And I wish him well.

Do you think that maybe just one black person voted for Macain?

    I doubt that very much.

I vvidly remember when Kennedy was assassinated .... funny how certain things stick in your mind. I was in college and the Head came in, hand on heart, distraught and said 'Our President has been assassinated' ....

Years later when t'other half's parents lived in Arlington, Texas, we went to visit them and ..... horrors of horrors .... we had to have our picture taken in front of the Book Depository .... all good Catholic stuff .... s00k

I think its proving that the coloured population/ethnic pop is now taking the upper hand over the white, although, the actions of George Bush are why many whites voted for him.
After all the voting system is very different to ours, in GB the party would have decided on the candidate, not the people.

Just wondering now how long it will be before we have a black PM, for that very reason, ......being black.

Bearing in mind our use of "positive discrimination" in the UK.
