Im sure there are a lot of little tips and shortcuts that the more experience of you use without perhaps thinking that perhaps the youngermembers or indeed some us older ones could use, I will give an example:-
When perhaps mixing cement add 3to4 drops of fairy liquid this will make it pliable and so much easier to use. [IMG] another one is :- if you are to nail a piece of wood and you think its going to split then hit the pointed end of the nail a couple of times to make it blunt and then it wont split the wood, [IMG] another which i use quite a lot as wood in my part of the world seems to rot in front of your eyes such rake and hoe handles so i buy light metal tubes and hey presto they last forever. [IMG] anybody else who may have a little tip? [IMG]

Here is one that I read about recently.

To stop brooms, etc, falling over when propped against the wall, put the cut-off fingers from old rubber gloves over the top.

Another one I read about a few days ago is this - put 1 or 2 layers of used tea bags in pots for drainage.

Here's another one I just read about -

put a garlic clove in the soil of potted plants to keep parasites away.

KEDI-GATO I HAVE been putting garlic cloves between flowers and veg for years. you also get the benefit of fresh garlic when you harvest.

don't know if this one is any use to anyone but I chop large coke bottles 3/4 of the way up & use them for mini propagators.

[IMG] When taking cuttings that are to be sealed up in a polythene bag I put 1 or 2 old chopsticks in the pot then knot bag up on top of the chop stick/s.... This holds the bag up & stops the leaves touching & rotting. Very handy if you are doing a slow rooting plant, like a clematis for instance... ;) :D
