One disadvantage of this new system compared with the last, it that it doesn't appear to be able to show the location of members. I think this is an important piece of information because it effects what we grow, and hardiness etc.

So may I make a suggestion, that we use the signature facility (under my account on the menu) to state, location, type of soil, and interests. Or any other information that we feel useful.

It will mean that your signature faciliy should be turned on.

That's not a bad idea, Peter.

Its not as good as I had hoped Armandii, as I can't see my own signature under my post.

Could any kind person tell me how to turn my signature on. I have ticked all the boxes I know.

 I think that is the best idea for the moment, but we are working on it Peter as I miss that facility too.. It really was "at a glance".....
Trying to sort it out... :WINK1:

Thanks Marley. I have found how to turn on my signature. You must go into >My Account, then Edit Signature. Then Edit Options and turn the signature on from there under Thread View Options

Hello peter , lots of us missed the member location feature , so the thread below was started in February. Ziggy also suggested the signature location idea. Hopefully it will catch on a little more now
I think the forum backroom boys ( and girls ) are working on this feature as we sleep :D

Ziggy - thanks for suggesting the same thing. I probably saw yours and then thought that if I waited a bit I could pass it off as my own. :heehee:

I have only just realised what a lonk is :D. I thought it was an Englishman man posing as a French policeman.

Its just a band aid (for Location) Peter. The site should be fixed, I can't imagine its hard, lots of forums I visit have Location in the "Poster Details Pane".

When this was first raised a month or more back I had a look at the people who had registered recently (i.e. that day, or the day before etc.). I guess I looked at a couple of dozen, and all of them (from memory, might have been a few exceptions) had put their Location in the Location field during registration - well you would, wouldn't you? Wasted their time though ... and each time I answer a question I have to click on their UserID link, visit their profile, look at their location, and then navigate back to the thread to answer it ...

For what its wroth, because I am dyslexic I have signatures turned off because all the extra wibble makes it very hard for me to read the content - but at present that's no odds because Location and Signature are both on the View Profile page ...

I find answering posts here more of a chore than a pleasure, compared to the old vBulletin software.

Its easy enough to add "Location" to the area next to your name so you could list Posts, Satus, Joined, Reputation, Location, Soil type, Hardiness zone etc as you wish...takes 5 mins to do for an admin.

I have a test board here where you can see it working.

I thought it wouldn't be hard, but very kind of you to make the test, Cheers :) Soil type etc. would be a bonus.

Come on Admin, extract digit please :)

I've offered to set the changes I described above, whilst I was thanked for the offer I'm told the webmaster will set it up.

    Steve...:)
