    Here's mine...................

They're not the easiest. They need a stable temperature of 20 to 25°c, strong light and high humidity. Regular feeding is a must. My flower spike blasted this season due (I suspect) to the temperature fluctuating too much.

What do you do with the mass of hanging roots?

Try to avoid them and not snap them!

We were given an absolutely gorgeous one - in a glass container about waist high - so a far bit taller than this photo (form the site you posted a link to)

it lasted about a year or 18 months before it snuffed it :( although I probably didn't know what I was doing looking after it - but I did fill it with rain water for a few minutes, and then drain it off which, apparently, was all that was needed! I now know a bit more about temperature requirements for orchids so I might fare better ... but I have bought Cymbidiums instead as I think they will easier to look after, and the will increase in size to then put on dramatic (I hope!) displays

I think I actually prefer cymbidiums, the foliage is a nicer arching shape.

I agree. The Vanda was very dramatic - but a drama queen to look after!

Plus some of my Cymbidiums were reduced from something around the 30-quid mark to £3 :dbgrtmb: simply because they had finished flowering and it will be a year before they flower again.
