I put some apples on my recycled table for a neighbour to collect while I was away on hols and told him to take as many as possible as I had already got mine. These are very late apples and are often on the tree in Dec. But he was beaten to it by blackbirds and starlings. I have finally cleared up. They were welcome.

We always put out apples for the blackbirds, more this year since the weather has been too warm for the apples to keep. Also get field fares coming to feast on them too.

I have a good population of blackbirds here who love the apples and crabapples. I saw a pair of jays on the bird table yesterday but they were too quick for me to photograph them. They collect and bury acorns so it was a treat to see them because we don't have any oak trees close by. We also have squirrels and a woodpecker who regularly visit the bird table.
