The ginger is more striped than patchy but looks quite nice. I also like the variegated fatsia as opposed to the spiders web one, which I think looks like pests have had a go at it.

                :)

I like Spiders Web because each new leaf is so unpredictable, and it is fun to see how they turn out.

For chimeras: Canna Cleopatra - red leaved stems have red flowers, green leaved stems yellow flowers, and leaves that have mixed colour leaves ... have mixed coloured flowers - bonus!

They must look nicer in real life then because the pics make them look sickly.

They do, indeed, look sickly when they produce an almost-all-white leaf :( I saw some tiddlers for sale somewhere recently - only an inch or two high (why would they sell them that small? going to need a lot of TLC ...) - and they were nearly 100% white, looked dreadful! but personally I think bigger plants do have interest

I'll keep an eye out for them. Garden centers around here tend to take a while to start selling anything that's a bit different. I buy a lot from the internet because of that.

I bought a tropicanna black, it's still in flower, lovely at the mo, and about 4ft tall.
