We are having a good old fashioned clear-out and have various items in the garden that would like to see used by someone else. I don't know the names but anyone that's interested can ask for photos and I'll email them some, danielthefrazerAThotmailDOTcom

    Hi and welcome to GC.

Are these trees and shrubs in containers? The reason I ask is that mid summer is not really the time to be uprooting anything. Best time to uproot trees and shrubs would be late autumn into winter, while they are dormant, otherwise they will suffer badly from the disturbance.

Hi there - I'm a total novice at all of this! They are in the garden, were here when we moved, so might be best to either sacrifice them, or wait until autumn to move them.

    Cheers

It might be useful if you could post some pics to get the shrubs identified while they are in their peak growing phase. Most shrubs benefit from a severe haircut before being moved, so as to reduce the amount of plant that the inevitably damaged roots have to serve until the roots recover in their new home. There are a few general rules of thumb, but some shrubs have different rules for their haircut, for example some will come back even if you scalp them completely, whereas others need some green growth left on as they wont sprout up from bare wood.

If you could get some pics on, then I'm sure people more knowledgeable than me will be able to point you in the right direction.
