First of all, this question is going to be daft. But this is my first year at properly growing vegetables, I've already tried with soft fruits in containers so got that down (not really but im still working on that aspect)

Just curios but I've new ground and plan on planting some potatoes, Pinks likely due to availability.

If you had asked me when I started I would have thought a cabbage was a cabbage, but a trip to my local garden centre and their seed stand would make me think otherwise.

If you could, what is everyone favourites in terms of green cabbages, beans, onions and carrots?

The place they will be planted has a good layer of top soil, but was pasture for decades before and is also south facing if that helps!

if you want short-rooted carrots then Amsterdam is ideal it is also perfect for freezing. if you want long-rooted carrots then you want New Red Intermediate. as for onions i use white lisbon (which is a spring onion), Bedfordshire Champion and rjnsburger.
