Harvest the parsnips and leeks yesterday, tasted gorgeous. Going to grow some blueberry bush/s next time.

I have had some of my parsnips too Fonzie and they were sublime. I'm going to take advice and leave the others until after our first frost - although I think they may be very large by then.

How come you got leeks  Mine are just about the thickness of a knitting needle.

It's my first year of growing veggies and I didn't grow much as I have used a flower bed for the purpose just to see how I got on. I've hardly spent a penny on veg and it has been wonderful. I even had enough to give away. I was quite proud to give my neighbour something - english runner beans - as they didn't know what they were. I gave them a couple of parsnips too and they looked totally confused. They (or rather monsieur) grows veg for France and is always giving us veggies and eggs from his chickens so it was so nice to be able to reciprocate. I'm definately having a proper veggie plot next year - with the help of G.C. of course.
