I am pleased to confirm that my other half has given me permission to stick a veg patch smack in the middle of the lawn (to maximise sun)!! Just a small one...I thought I would tell you , to put me under a bit of pressure to get out there and do it now!!

You also could try sneaking a few runner beans into the flower borders. Just tell the boss they are big sweet peas :D

Bit exposed. If you do not mind the sugestion. Not for the Veg Patch but from the 'Can I be seen from the house; point of view.
If you can now arrange an out of the way potting shed its not so bad but you need somwere that you can sit and contemplate your navel. That way trust me you avoid the 'can you just'.

Very wise advice oldwinegum. If I tuck the plot slightly to one side I will be out of sight from the kitchen window...

Plan is to keep it fairly small this year, just see if I can grow something!! The soil here is very chalky so I think I might have trouble with root veg (Do carrots split etc??) so brassicas and legumes probably. I Fancy a go with spuds in a home made barrel though!! Did I see that a dustbin is an option? I will of course keep you posted. Just got to find the time to do it now!!
