What vegetables can be grown in the shade, I am hoping to grow at least potatoes and runner beans in a new plot this year.

You can get away growing courgettes in partial shade. I should imagine potatoes will produce something but beans like the sun.

I don't waste my time growing any veggies. Not enough sun.

It really depends on how much shade there is. If it's dappled shade from trees then the beans will be OK but if it's total shade from a building then I would plant them elsewhere.

Funnily enough they are not too keen on very bright hot areas but do like some sunshine. What they really don't like are very hot humid conditions. Some years ago I was involved in some trials, in schools, of growing runner beans in more tropical countries - it was not very successful. The plants grew OK but the flowers didn't develop well.
