after garlic harvest I have a small plot available for winter vegetables . Not brassicas.
Can anyone give me a list in case I have forgotten one of those crop that are grown for winter outside. I already have parsnips, celeriac and leeks growing. Can anyone tell me when the carrot fly is not flying, as I could sow carrots if the dreaded fly has or is about to finish. Many thanks V

Thanks Loofah, that’s very good except I had a deal of buy 3 get the fourth free. I have spuds growing out of my ears at the moment. The Maris piper will still be there when I need the ground for all the spring planting. I thought perhaps swede, could I be early enough to sow from seed do you think. V

You can sow loads of things for autumn now as well or wait a bit and sow overwintering veggies like spring onions or spring cabbage in august.

Purple sprouting broccoli I'd sow an early type now asap, winter cabbage like savoys or tundra, cauliflower as well for autumn or spring.

Kohl rabi, Florence fennel, carrots , lettuce, endive, chicory, chard and leaf beet, beetroot.

Edit: i missed you saying no brassicas for some reason. Also carrot fly tends to be on the wing in june and september mostly. I would net them anyway if you want to grow them

Many thanks Hanglow, I’m now thinking of swede if they have a punnet at the garden centre.
I haven’t any fleece left for covering carrots and the brassicas I grew before in that plot had root problems so bad they didn’t grow and I had to throw them out. V
