    Hello all,

I bought a rather sorry looking Venus flytrap last year, seems to have recovered well, but now I'd like to propogate from it, and make a few more for a bigger spread. What is the best way to do this, split it at the right time of the year, or just repot and hope it spreads?

    Thanks :)

If its now got more than one crown you can gentle separate them an re pot singly.

If you've had some flowers it is possible to grow new plants from any seed that might be set, but its a slow process.

I seem to remember hearing about growing new plants by cutting off and rooting the flower stem, but it was a while back and I wasn't that interested at the time.

    Hi,

Thanks for your response, it hasn't flowered yet, although looks like it will soon. I'll see how we get on :)

Check out some of the carnivorous plant forums. Seed growing isn't a great idea as it is very very slow to get big plants. The flowers aren't that nice too and tend to leave the original plant in a sorry state. Most people just cut the flowers off when they come.
