I am now the proud owner of a Venus flytrap. The poor bugger has probably been poked and prodded to the last of its tether at the garden centre, and I am wondering if anyone has any advice for getting it to thrive indoors. I will be putting a shelf up right Infront of the window (it doesn't have a windowsill) .

    Thankyou!

    Hi

Its in its dormant period at the moment having a rest, so keep it cool sunny spot , only keep the compost damp with rain water no need for it to be sitting in a dish of water as its not growing at the moment , you will have sit in a saucer come the spring summer and keep it filled up at all times

yep. I agree, dont expect much to happen for a few months, they go dormant in the dark days of winter, so dont be tempted to give it too much heat.

I stand all mine outside in a sunny spot from June to October. The Blackbirds seem to like pecking at them, so I have to protect with a net.

Every thing I know about them I have got from this American site, http://www.flytrapcare.com/
