Verbena Obsession Pink Chiffon - Does anyone know if this trails or not. Different things I read say different things!

Wonderful for borders, beds window boxes and containers. Provides clusters of brilliant flowers all season long. Solid masses of color on spreading plants. Trailing habit provides colorful blooms all season long. Mildew resistant. Superior heat and mildew tolerance. Compact and branching habit.

Ok to me that says its trails but then also says its compact ???

What does 'branching habit' mean ? :cnfs:

    Says on back of ticket:-

Features: Brightly coloured flowers all summer, Lasts one season
Uses: Baskets, containers, window boxes, beds and borders
    Flowering: Throughout summer
    Height: 25 - 30 cm, 10 - 12"
    Spread: 25 - 30cm, 10 - 12"
    Position: Prefers sunny sute

    Hi, Sam :)

I grow a lot of Verbenas and only today cut all of mine back to a couple of inches tall to get a second flowering.

I do not know them by 'name' ... here they are just Verbenas .... purple, pink, peach, etc.

It does sound confusing ... trailing, branching and compact, but it's basically true. :) They can be used in hanging baskets or pots and are nice in a rockery as they 'trail'. They are woody and branch out but don't go very high, ie, compact.

They definitely prefer the sun and like a lot of water, certainly here, but are not as long blooming here as there because of the heat. My best shows are the ones that have shade part of the day. The bonus here is they are perennial and not annual.

Here are some pics of mine to give you an idea of their habit ..

This one (pic taken on Boxing Day) eventually trailed to the granite counter ....

It's the purple plant in this pot ...

.... and this one now about three years old with smaller flowers is on my kitchen patio and is still blooming now (just took the pic) playing push and shove with the Geraniums ...

Hope this helps a little. :)

    Lovely photos, thanks Victoria :)

Would you say ALL verbena trails then ?

Still confused to how something can be 'trailing, branching and compact' all at the same time though  .... Why does it all have to be so complicated :lollol:

All it says on the actual ticket is 'Verbena Obsession Pink Shiffon" and on the back it says:-

Features: Brightly coloured flowers all summer, Lasts one season
Uses: Baskets, containers, window boxes, beds and borders
    Flowering: Throughout summer
    Height: 25 - 30 cm, 10 - 12"
    Spread: 25 - 30cm, 10 - 12"
    Position: Prefers sunny site

The part about it trailing etc was copied off a site i found it on

Maybe its like Lobelia then and says Bush if it doesnt trail ?
