    Hi,

A few days ago I saw a post about using the vermiculite insulation stuff by crushing inside a pillowcase-saves a fortune apparently. I have ahd a toot around and can`t seem to find it anywhere.

Also, someone I asked at B&Q said something about asbestos. Wasn`t really listening afetr he told me they didn`t have it.

    Anyone know about this?

The mines for Vermiculite / Perlite (I forget which) have at times been contaminated with Asbestos. As I remember it, this has only been a threat to the miners, but I don't suppose putting asbestos dust [if there is indeed any present] in a pillow case, which was then later used for a pillow, would be the best
    plan!

I have read the whole thread but do not have any idea why you want to do this?

    To use for cuttings .

I use the stuff from garden centres but my interest was piqued by a thread mentioning what to do with left over stuff from a fire. ( or something).

Dai replied so will have to search through his posts I think

I think it went like this....

You can purchase vermiculite from builders yards...but the granules are too large to use with potting plants, but if you put it inside something and tread on it etc, then you end up with the same product that the garden centres sell, at a fraction of the cost.:thumb:

All right Tweaky, why SIR Arthur? As for the Vermiculite, I said I`d had a bag of the insulating sort given to me, and I`d used it as is.:thumb:
