This is somewhat familiar, and wonderful. It grows in large drifts on the steep banks in Jesmond Dene . No flowers or buds were visible even when I peeked under the foliage. Shaded woodland.

(In spite of the fluffy pink glove, the hand in the photo to provide scale is an adult hand. )

    Thanks!

Is it a tall or low growing plant?

About knee high, it's hard to tell as the banks are nearly vertical.

I've got no idea what it is, perhaps if you put it in the wildflower thread you might get a answer.

It reminds me of Trachystemon orientalis.
    Leaves are huge.
But there should be blue flowers. TRACHYSTEMON ORIENTALIS 10-05-2022 13-27-49.JPG

That's it, thank you @Silver surfer ! And now I know why it was familiar, it reminds me of common Borage.
