My Viburnum is being devoured rapidly, it's a well-established shrub that was in the garden when we moved in. I have tried to rescue it but i am just not succeeding. I am concerned that it may effect the other plants around it. Should i just dig it up? Think it might be vine weevil? :( It's going to leave quite a large gap what could I use to replace it that will grow pretty quickly.

Thank you fot your reply - it def does look like that, I feel sure it not going to last another season. Not sure if I should take it out as I am bothered it will effect other shrubs? Just dont know what I could replace it with. Feel sure i saw a adult vine weevil on it though ! :-(

as far as I'm aware it's just viburnum that has this particular problem. Generally speaking the advice is to remove all affected leaves and burn them - but sometimes it doesn't leave much!

As for digging it up and replacing it, it's up to you! I try to go through the advice I've just mentioned, and see how it goes, but more often than not, people do actually have it replaced - but be warned, they're a real pain to dig out!!
