@Tetters. It is the smoke near us, not the actual fire. Fortunately we do have another house by the coast.

Only went to 30c today, currently 27c. Problem is wind but it is shifting, here is 5pm to midnight, ie, away from us.

What a difference a day makes ...



Currently 26c with slight pleasant breeze. Wind changed so back to initial areas. I use this link already mentioned for updates. It is good to read in yesterday's report that animals are being looked after and that the Wild Lynx Breeding Center (about 30 minutes from us) is safe ... well at least the kitties!

Hi Victoria, I've been looking at a rooted cutting of Alogyne that I promised you last year, wondering about sending it. Perhaps I'll wait until autumn? We've been having much the same temps here recently but thankfully no worse than the odd field or barn full of straw going up in smoke. Then thunderstorms and torrential rain all last night, so that'll damp things down for a bit. Hope the worst is over for you, now. PM me your address when you want the plant!

 

Hi @noisette47, funnily enough I had thought of the plant not long ago! Yes, Autumn would be best for me as we still have months of Summer to come yet. I will PM my address.

Sadly they are still battling the fires west of us. I have heard at least a half dozen helicopters go over us today so far.

Thankfully the fires are basically under control. We still have helis with water buckets going over. Let's hope this is the end of this nightmare. Blue skies and no wind today.
