I'm having a bit of a nightmare with my weeds and I'm fed up of buying all these seemingly overpriced products. Is vinegar actually a good weed killer? It says it here http://www.weedkillerforlawns.org/ but I've literally never heard of anyone recommend this before?

Quite a few people on the Internet do promote vinegar as a "wonder, natural weedkiller", but in truth it is a bit less wonderful.
Firstly, Vinegar is a total weed killer, so it will stuff your grass if you spill it, or spray it on non-target plants. For it to work you need to carefully apply it by hand to every weed. That's not really possible on any weedy lawn that I've seen as you'll be there all day!
Secondly, for bigger, more stubborn weeds it will only kill the top growth. Any decent sized-weed will be back up and just as aggressive in a few weeks, making it a bit of a waste of time long-term.

For the places were one could use vinegar without killing grass and other plants (such as bricked paving) would industrial vinegar not completely nuke the weeds?
From what I understand, domestic or table vinegar is between 4 to 8% acetic acid whilst the industrial version can be around 20 - 25%.
Should be safer than using noxious, over priced branded weed killers.

Only the tops. Roots would remain untouched.

Thank you Kris Lord, that site explains it nicely.

I tried vinegar once after reading about it on GC . Not particularly effective and you drive smells like the local chippy ! I use Glyphosate ( Roundup ) in a spray . You can buy it in a concentrate and let it down 20:1 , so this works out really cheap .

It makes me laugh when I read stuff like this

And then they give instructions how to make 'non-chemical' weedkiller using vinegar, salt, bleach and soap.
