Venus Flytrap (Dionaea muscipula) comes originally from the Carolinas (N&S) in America. Growing from seed they take from 30-90 days at 75-80° F (24-27°C) to germinate. I've never grown from seed but had a bought one that eventually flowered. They must be grown on wet compost with little or no nutrient and watered with rain water.

Some good info from Cal's Plant of the Week March 19-25, 2004: Dionaea muscipula
