Hi these look like violets they are growing everywhere they seem to be strangling my other plants I haven't planted violets in my garden
or could they be weeds that look like violets coming from the garden next door ?

If the ground is suitable for weeding I would get them out as soon as possible. Although violets can look lovely they are very tenacious and you want to get their fibrous roots out otherwise they will get very hard to remove. The roots are not deep but form a solid mat fairly quickly.

Yes violets and yes they spread like mad and crowd out other things, I regularly pull out masses of them.

Thanks don't mind them in the rockery at the bottom of garden but else where in the garden I will get rid of them and I did have a nest of ants in the grass a while ago I got rid of it with diluted cider vinegar and coffee they went elsewhere So most likely they bought some seeds
