My virginia creeper is looking really good this year . It has grown well over the patio window and a small archway , the little flower heads are just forming . But it has started to develop its autumn leaf colours ( from early July ). Now this colouring is lovely , but is it not a tad early :what: or is my memory failing me again :D

    I dont grow it Harry.

Just wonder if it could be dry?

I have a few trees showing yellow leaves which are being shed early.
I put it down to dryness.

one of the gardens I maintain has a star jasmine that is developing red leaves early (this normally only occurs in the cold) ... so things are a bit wierd this year

Well, we're all saying that most of the plants are out of "synch" by at least two weeks due to the unusually warm April that we've had. Maybe different species of plants are being affected in different ways:scratch:

    Thanks All
I think it may be as Pete says , lack of water during the dry spell earlier this year. Two of my clematis in the same location suffered from being too dry, I will pay more care to my watering next year. The Virginia creeper looks great in its early autumn colours - but its only August 1 !

I planted virginia creeper all around my deck, and mine is still green over here, but i was told to give it a good water, especially in dry weather, that it'll stress the plant if it gets too dry.

Cant wait to see it red though.
