volunteer potatoes

    Is that what they're called? Anyway, I seem to have loads of potato plants in the garden where I didn't dig them all up last year, yet I thought I was so thorough. I did have blight last year. If I pick them as news, are they likely to be okay? :cnfs: Liz

    If you are growing spuds again this year then I would be ruthless and pull up and destroy any volunteers. Blight spores overwinter on volunteer spuds and will infect nearby crops. Also I've found that vounteers hardly produce anything wortwhile so I get rid of any as soon as I see them.
