I am told by many people that washing up liquid is excellent for getting rid of greenfly. Indeed I have tried it to some effect however I'm not too sure as to the quantities. I have noticed that after a recent spraying my flowers and young leaves are turning brown in places. I think that I must have the proportions wrong. Does anyone use this method regularly and if so what do they consider to be the perfect washing up liquid to water combination?

I've never tried it, because I don't trust it. Nevertheless, yesterday I read somewhere that you should only use unscented washing up liquid.

Now that sounds a bit dodgy to me as well. There is a company near here that makes the scent for unscented soap. Yes I know...

Are you spraying during the day? It could be the sun shining through the water and scorching the leaves.

Charlie I only use Squeezy washing up liquid, put about a teaspon to a pint sprayer. I spray anytime at first attack mainly only on tips of young plants. It works wonders. They won't come back.
