I put some out of date Christmas pudding on the bird table a couple of days ago. Birds haven't touched it but the wasps are going crazy for it. We've loads of fallen fruit about and usually have to handle it with care, but so far the wasps are more or less ignoring the apples and plums in favour of their early Christmas treat.

Great photo! Often, fallen fruit will ferment and then the wasps get tipsy. See them flying in crazy circles and crash landing only to fly and fall again. Just like the kids in every town centre in booze binge Britain.

Super photo, Dave ... now you need to get out there quick to collect that fallen fruit ... and keep a pud spare for next year's harvest! [IMG]

So much to do as everything is ripening at once. We are struggling to keep up.
We've bottled about 8 jars of toms - some 'sun dried' in oil, others pickled. Packed 3 boxes of apples. Frozen 6 bags of plums. Bottled about 4 pints of dried peas.
More apples to deal with tomorrow and dried french and runner beans within two or three weeks. Plus yet more toms and and some pickled ridge cucumbers.
Dinner tonight was red cabbage with apple and raisins, roast butternut squash, potatoes and the only thing we didn't produce ourselves - roast lamb.

Well, you won't go hungry this winter, Dave, with that harvest. All I've done is my sun-dried tomatoes in oil!

And why didn't you invite me for dinner last night ... that sounds absolutely delicious! I love red cabbage with apple and rainins and roast lamb. Mmmmmm! [IMG]
