I read the other day that apparently water boatmen are the noisiest creatures on earth for thier size.99.8 decibels which the scientists say is equivalent to listening to a very loud orchestra on the front row.The noise they make is a mateing call where by they 'rub thier genitals on thier abdomen'.Sorry i know it's early in the morning....but i just thought it was an interesting/odd fact to share !!!

Well, the fish in my pond don't eat the waterboatmen. When I sit by the pond and watch the fish the boatmen just skitter over the top of the surface and fish and in fact the fish will duck out of the way - must be the noise they make.:D:scratch::heehee:

I think it's amazing that they swim upside-down and when they want to move on, they break through the surface of the water and fly off!
