We've got a little water lily in our pond that still seems to be hibernating. The water temperature is still just under 10 C. It didn't have the best of winters (a big pot of iris landed on it, amongst other things :o ) and didn't seem desperately happy last year. We're wondering whether its just being a bit slow to get going or whether we should accept the fact that it needs recycling.

Any ideas on how to find out, or how long we should wait before giving up all hope?

We've only just got the first leaf or two on your water lilly plants (and they are pretty large & mature, so may start sooner than younger plants?)

Pond plants in general wake up a bit later than most garden plants I find.

My waterlilies are just starting to put out a few damaged looking leaves, the first ones quite often are damaged.

Once things warm up a bit and the water temperature becomes more stable they should grow really fast.
So I would say, dont discard it yet, they are expensive plants to buy.
