I've just had installed a new greenhouse and I'm looking for a trough to collect water in to run along the 6ft base.im going to run both roofs into the trough rather than have a water butt.Any ideas most welcome or where I can get one.

You could just make one out of wood perhaps.

I'm not sure it would be necessary. I'm thinking that there are many sea worthy boats that are wooden and not lined with anything, and of course oak barrels aren't lined. I'm just not sure how you'd keep it good. My dad once told me that wooden boats rely on the fact the the wood is bone dry when they are built, and will absorb some water and swell, naturally sealing any gaps between the bits of wood. As they swell, they nip up nice and tight. For a water trough though, I wonder if you'd get away with just doing a 2x2 wooden frame and some ply for the bottom and sides.

You don't say where you are, but there is a building plastics firm near me (Corsham) and their range of plastic troughs is amazing. Maybe there is a builders yard near you.

      Cheers, Tony.
