Hi Folly, sounds to me its more like a DIY job.

I'm thinking it would be very expensive to have one made.

I'm also assuming it would be more ornamental rather than working?

Let us know how it goes.:D

I'm sure many will come up with ideas regarding the best construction, timber, and that spindle and bearing you require.

Well it could look more attractive as a feature, Not much point to it at the moment, and why is the base of the wheel in the water, just unecessary drag.

I am sure Follyman will produce a magnificent wheel in OAK, no screws just dovetails and mortice joints
Start at 08:00 and we will see it working by 17:00

          Follyman Follyman go go go
