I have been using various watering systems in my garden for many years. After much testing I found the Gardena products to be very good. Over recent years Hozelock have been selling their system in the garden centres round here. I have tested their products and found them to be cheap rubbish. I am an engineer specialising in plastic moulding and I can tell the difference in the quality of the two companies products. For some yars I have avoided Hozelock. This year I find that most of the garden centres round here no longer stock the Gardena range. Have they been pushed out by the Hozelock rubbish? Is this the case across the country?
I'm pleased to say that the Gardena range is still available on the internet. And that is where I will now get them.

Congratulations for the Gardena employee then......

I find the plastic to be hardwearing and robust - with things like water timers I'd be more concerned about the internal electronics and machanical parts.

Have you got a link to some (independent) product comparisons?

I have to admit, I have never had any problem with Hozelock. Or with Gardena, come to that. Having sold both makes, I would say that Gardena priced themselves out of the market. I find Hozelock to sell robust, quality products and to class them as cheap rubbish is , basically, rubbish.:)

The poster joined this forum and made one post - specifically to slag off hozelock and promote gardena - then call himself an engineer and make statements that are technically lacking and very un-engineer like. Finally he tells you where you can buy Gardena products.

I don't think this is a genuine forum member and if gardena employees have to resort to slagging off the competition on internet forums the company must be in big trouble indeed and personally I find this kind of sly marketing offensive, this is a forum for UK gardeners not free advertising space.

That is why I stuck up for Hozelock. Don`t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with Gardena, apart from the price.:thumb:

Hozelock have been fine for me, strange that Gardena need to try such tactics. I wonder if they have done this on any of the other gardening forums?
