Just spent some time with the OH pulling some wayward strawberry plants.
    Knackered..
Decided to forget the strawberries this year and grow flowers instead.
I suspect I shall be pulling young strawberries from around the garden for quite awhile .

Hiya Capney, was thinking of doing the same thing. I must have had that strawberry patch for about 12 years now.:)

( I was told they only last about 3 years) Anyway, the slugs seem to get more pleasure from them than us, so out they come.:parsnip:

Going to have to give some thought as what to put in their place.

I am doing away with my conventional strawberry beds this year and having a few in raised movable troughs, see if that works a bit better slug wise plus it gives me an extra bed for other stuff. The chickens are doing an ok job of clearing it at the moment i doubt they will leave much for me to do besides filling in the holes!!

About three years for mine, but no problems with slugs as the bed was right next to the pond and I would often find a frog or two in the bed.
Blackbirds on the other hand are a different story.
