Having done about 40 minutes housework, I needed a cuppa and a sit down. Gazing out on to the patio where I had watered some pots, there was a little chap wandering around the bases of the pots and climbing into one or two of them. Tiny little thing and as he came out into the light, I saw he had a stumpy little tail. Yesterday we were clearing out the border under the kitchen window and noticed holes in the soil. He wandered off into the border as I drank my cuppa. My book said he was a short tailed vole.

They are only little holes. Don't know why he's made them. :noidea: Anyone a vole expert in GC? He is running over to where the sunflower seed feeder is. Goldfinches and Nuthatches are a bit picky and wasteful so he pops along during the day to get topped up!

A couple of years ago our son rescued a vole from the jaws of a cat. The vole showed its gratitude by biting him. :snork:

This is the same thank you I got in Bucks from taking them out of the mouths of my cats .. who didn't want to eat them but bring them as presents. Their bite is actually quite nasty ... sharp! :ouch1:
