It is hard to believe that 20 years ago today, we were sat in stunned silence watching the events in America unfolding. One of those events where we will always remember where we were, who we were with and what we were doing... and for all the wrong reasons.

This is one of the last photographs ever taken of the twin towers, taken on 10th September 2001:

May all of those who died rest in eternal peace and may those who were injured remain always in our thoughts.

A horrendous event. We had trouble believing it.

I knew someone who lost their life that day

We were on holiday in the Lake District at the time and had stopped at a pub for a light lunch. The service wasn't very good and the staff seemed to be wasting their time watching a disaster movie on the TV at the back of the bar. They didn't tell us what it really was. :rolleyespink: When we arrived back at our guest house the owner came rushing out to the car park to tell us!

It seems as stark, as raw, and as brutal today as it did then. But the spirit of America shone through it on the day and still does.
My thoughts are with everyone in the USA today,

We remember it well as T'other Half is American and I lived there for 20 years+ over two periods of time when I was young and then in my teens/20s. We were on the IoW ready to move here and our neighbour came over and said turn on the news. I still cringe watching it.
