        Amen to that,

My OH and I will follow the Battle Brass Band, Cadets from the Armed Forces, Scouts,Brownies and Cubs all in smart uniforms, down the High Street to the church for a very well attended service. We feel it is something that we would always make every effort to attend and hope that virtually nothing will ever prevent us from paying our respects on this day,

I will be at the village War Memorial, it being next door.

Can we observe a 2 minutes silence on Gardeners Corner at 11 o'clock tomorrow please.

              Thank you Marley

I have been working on down at Twickenham today, and a fella with his little girl asked if they could pitch up beside us to try and sell some poppies - not only was it a pleasure to see a youngster getting involved with such enthusiasm, but I am also pleased to say that the crowds arriving for the rugby match cleaned their entire poppy supply out :)

I will be watching it on the tv with my grandad. We usually go to the parade, but he doesn't think he can stand for long enough and he will not give in and sit in a wheel chair.

I was going to do that, but I won't be here. I'll put the fuse back in for you later if you can't.

Our nephew has just returned from his third and final duty on the front line in Afghanistan. A tad weary and mentally tired but in one piece. So we have much to be thankful for,

I think we're going to our one tomorrow. Last year though, there were no representatives of any of the armed forces, past or present, and the coppers did the parade. They were late, disorganised, and I was mortified to see that one of them hadn't even polished his shoes. It was a far cry from the parades of bygone years, when my grandad would proudly spend hours preparing, and like everyone involved would look immaculate. I stood watching the coppers on their horses not know there behind from their elbow, 5 minutes late, dirty shoes, and I thought thank the gods my grandads are now both at rest, they'd go absolutely ballistic if they saw this.

Disappointed to hear that, Clue. I attended the funeral of one of our colleagues (killed on duty) and I have to say that everyone turned out for their role in the parade immaculate; regular officers, Special constables and civilian staff alike. That five minute march felt like an hour ... and throughout, you could have heard a pin drop.

But, it does have to be said, there is a wealth of difference between military training and constabulary training. The military parade frequently; the Police, rarely.

I shall pop along to our ceremony (no excuse really, it's a few feet from my rear fence). Saw them preparing the epitaph cenotaph (thanks, Jenny :heehee:) on Friday, and they were there again yesterday.
