I have just blasted a horrible piece of my plot with Roundup Quikpro. I would rather not have had to use it but it was just too much work.

The thing is it's now covered in dead couch, brambles, willowherb, ground elder etc. As the weedkiller is non residual and allows planting after 10 days will I still have to remove the top remains or can I dig them under the ground as compost?

Dig 'em in. They are not likely to contain any residual poison form the weedkiller and as it breaks down in the soil, any in them would also break down. Watch out for bramble, the spines take years to disitntegrate and you could find youself spiked in future.

Mmmm, I'd be more inclined to remove and burn. They advise with round up'd plants, not to compost them - so whilst it becomes inert on contact with soil, it is a systemic weedkiller - not sure whether the same applies when digging in deaded plants. But no doubt Palustris is right, and it will be fine.

Slash and burn to clean the ground if you can but diggin in will be fine. Remember that heavy weed coverage traps a lot of seed that will be dormant and untouched by weedkillers so I would rough dig over when clear and lay fallow for a couple of months. Re-treat area again with a something like Weedol2 if you feel it necessary to see off annual weeds and young perenials.

I would leave more than 10 days.
