i did throw a load of seed down a while ago and since i am watering my shrubs every evenings, there is suddenly alot of little leaves coming up, i know nothing on gardening so are these weeds or the seeds growing? if seeds do i take out of ground and pot as loads of them and many are very close together, some are spread, i have no idea what seed i threw down it was mixed packs of different seeds, now i have taken a pic or two i can see how much of a state the border is too

They look a bit too "fleshy" to be common weeds. Of course there might well be weeds mixed in with seedlings from the packet you sowed. I should leave them 'til they get a bit bigger when identification should be easier.

Can't really tell at that stage. Most seedlings throw up the first pair of "seed leaves" (cotyledons) what don't look anything like their true leaves (which start with the second pair), so you'll have to wait a bit longer for identification.

You could put a couple of each type of seed in a little pot of compost, then you'll know what to expect?

"since i am watering my shrubs every evenings"

Better for the plants to water less frequently, and then really soak them. I would say once a week is fine at the moment, unless you have continuous sun. Twice a week in mid Summer, unless we get a scorcher then you might need 3 x.

The idea is to surround the plant with damp soil, and the roots then go searching for it. In particular a good soaking will work its way down through the soil, so the plant will send roots downwards. There will be much more evaporation from a light watering, and that will only leave dampness at the surface - where the roots will grow, but then have no ability to sustain during dry periods.

Plus regular light watering will keep the leaves and stems damp, opening up a whole world of fungal infection possibilities.

Dawn; theres all sorts there! Its very difficult to tell whats weeds and whats not when you sow mixed seed. Thats one of the main reasons why its recommended to sow in rows, then you should be able to see the difference between your seedlings and the weeds - I'd wait a week or two to get a better idea.

That big weed at the top of your photo is creeping buttercup - I'd pull that out as it will smother your seedlings given half a chance.

Be happy that you will have some lovely flowers, don't stress too much - if it starts looking a bit crowded you can pick some out and move them to bare patches. xx
