    From Netweather

    "
Come Saturday night, a frost is possible even into southeastern England, indeed and where in Central or Eastern parts of the country could well see a touch of frost. Daytime temperatures will be highest in the West reach a max of perhaps 17 or 18c during tomorrow in parts of Wales and the Midlands, slightly lower on Saturday though. Further East, East Anglia may struggle upto 13c."

Maybe a chance to fire up the BBQ!

Should be a lovely weekend for most but watch out for overnight frost if you have any tender plants outside hardening off or getting an airing. This is where a cold frame comes into its own. Cooler than a grenhouse but still provides some protection.

Great news especially as I have just bough a load of half price steaks from Sainsburys - so definately out with the BBQ.

as to the frost - well I am definately a believer in the old saying "ner cad a claut ere Mays out" Now could cause an argument here (just for a change) as some people believe it is the month of May and others May blossom. this is probably a question for wildflower to verify.

Now I did see a sprig of May out yesterday, but something odd about it.

Night temps down here are supposed to be around 6c, so no frost, but days still colder than I would expect for the end of april. Not warm enough for a BBQ yet. [IMG]

We went by a local garden centre today (one of about 300 in a rather compact area in the Clyde Valley) and spent about £70 on various plants. And we went by Jewsons to buy fence panels, posts, spikes, the lot. What can I say, it was not yet noon and we had already spent about £450!
So I pottered about for three hours in the garden, planting, watering, turf stripping and what have ye... and then hubby and I sat down on our new patio, parasol open, with two bowls of Irn Bru ice cream and feet up. Towards 4pm we noted it was about 32 degrees (but that was in the sun).
However, now with all my flower bed planted as far as I want to go this year, I would not mind the rain they forecasted for tomorrow. Cuts down on watering - we don't yet have an outside water tap and I always have to get the wtaer from the kitchen tap! Frustrating!

We have allready had our bbq out ..last thursday..As for the may blossom well in olden days they all used to dance around the may pole decorated with may blossom..and the date is supposed to be 30th april to the 1st may..BUT..i have hawthorn trees and they never flower till later in may..so these dates must be more accurate down the south of the country..as mine have never flowered so early..

The may is supposed to be the first sign of summer so when it flowers you know summer has arrived...has it arrived anywhere yet?
