just planted this tree yesterday after taking some time to decide on a spot for it. though it does grow big (60-80ft eventually) i believe it can be trained to grow to my needs.i hope to train the leader to about 12-15ft.mine is only about 18" high and i think it grows at about 1-2ft a year so i guess were going to grow old together.

Sorry tig, but they never look good when pruned, but we all plant trees we cant cope with because we like them, I've grown lots.
usually end up chopping them down after a few years, thats the sad part.

The weeping ones can be very much smaller than their upright brothers, have you any idea what type it is?
I would give it a go, treat it as a bonsai for a few years in a container and trim the tap root, letting it develop a horizontal root system and training it to your idea as you go.
There are dwarf varieties too - this is an American site but has good pictures to show what's available:

    Give it a go!
