Weeping Willow

I have a young weeping willow which is growing vigorously. Can I prune off the lower branches and if so, when?

if possible a photo ? just to see how much you want to cut off.

I normally prune mine when all the leaves have dropped off in late Autumn early winter just to give it a tidy up if needed.
