I've spent hours looking at Weigela's on the web, tracked down one that I like and now can't find it for sale anywhere. The one I've been looking for is Weigela 'Jeans Gold'.

I've practically given up on it so can you dear folk here come up with one that's similar for me please. I particularly like the golden foliage as I want to lighten the area it's to be planted in. Preferably red flowers, definitely not white or pink and mature height of 5 - 8ft.

Thank you Mazambo and Mike. :)

I looked at Bluebell and though they supply in a 3 litre pot the plant size is small at 30-40cm.

Mike I can't work out where to buy on Ravensthorpe's site.

You are very welcome. I hope you manage to get what you want.

        Whilst on the subject.

When searching for a plant, tree etc. Try the RHS Plant Finder. Simply type in, RHS Plant Finder, saves a lot of time.

        Happy gardening.

Strangely I've not found anything I've wanted via the RHS Plant Finder but I have adopted another way. I look at images of the plant I'm chasing and then follow the information I gain from the pictures I click on. This often leads to a nursery that supplies the plant in question. An example below....

For me, the best variegated weigela is Florida Variegata. Reliable, stable and attractive :)

I think the best red is Bristol Ruby @Sheal, but my favourite by far has to be Carnival :)
We grew thousands of Weigelas at the nursery, and these two outsold all the others.

          Middendorfiana was also popular

Thanks Tetters. I gave up on 'Jeans Gold'. Having checked it out further it's growing habit was open and sprawling which meant it laid rather low. The idea was to group it with two other shrubs so I've ordered 'Briant Rubidor Olympiade' which is more upright, and the yellowish leaves will bring some brightness into my north-west facing front garden.

I've had my eye on Middendorffiana for a while and will invest in that in the new year when I work out where it's going to live. :) I looked at 'Carnival' too but wanted the lighter coloured leaves.

I'm now chasing Philadelphus 'Minnesota Snowflake' (not the mini one) and the only two nurseries that have it are Burncoose who want £10 postage and a further £10 surcharge, and Larch Cottage who also want an arm and a leg in postage. They're not getting it from me! Classic Roses sell it but it's currently out of stock so I emailed them yesterday to check on further stock and waiting a reply on that.

did you note the French Lace one. I like it as when not in flower the leaves are beautiful.

I did @redstar, thank you. It's pretty but I have just planted two variegated Hollies and wanted something different. :)

What better than cotinus Royal Purple between your hollies Sheal?
I have one next to Handsworth New Silver......superb throughout summer and the intense red autumn leaves are even better! :)
