We have a bit of a mystery here in our pond - not only have the taddies disappeared, but we have weird happenings with the fish....

Last September, we had a new pond. We had one Goldfish left, and bought some new fish to keep it company. We got 2 Golden Orfs, 2 Shubunkins and one Comet, making two of each type, all about 3" long.........

Still there all the same about 4 weeks ago, growing fast, now about 5" long....

Well, over the weekend, I thought all was not quite right, so I studied the pond again this afternoon, and confirmed we now have (all about 5" long) 2 Comets, 1 Golden orf, and 3, yes 3 Shubunkins!!!!!

I know I am a female, blonde and on occasion have been known to have Very premature senior moments, but after double and triple checking with the kiddies and 'im indoors, I can confirm one of our Golden Orfs is now a Shubunkin!!!!

There is NO WAY we got confused at the Aquatic Centre - they are VERY DIFFERENT types of fish!!! I am stunned and extremely confused!!!! There is no way the Shubunkins have had a baby and it has grown to the same size of the others so quickly - is there? Our back garden is inaccessable due to locked gates, and no one we know would have swapped them.....

????????  Weird, or what!!!!?????

no!!!!!! Other half convinced me the Golden Orf should have black markings and look like a Shubunkum when older. Then I was chatting to the owner of the aquatic section in the local GC at the weekend, and he said the Golden Orfs always stay the same and don't get black bits..... curiouser and curiouser, as the saying goes......
