    Lurk!

In the middle of renovating a small overgrown pond this chappie turned up to see what all the commotion was about.

Kind of odd 'cos it hasn't been seen for months and it was assumed it had become seagull sushie. Loads of baby frogs in there too! All seem quite happy despite the morning ice on the water.

Hope to have some before and after pics of the renovation later.

    Hi Rosa,

The wee pond is about a foot deep in the middle but the plan is to make it both larger and deeper. The goldfish (there were three) came from a fairground and lived for about 3 years untill two got gobbled up by marauding seagulls last summer. We thought Lucky (or Lucy) was gone too.

That was a nice surprise then! I love the fact that they came from the fairground and got so big [IMG]

I wonder that they survived so long in such a shallow pond. Or don't you get such frost like we have at times? Over here they say that the pond should be at least 80 cm deep. We don't have any fish any more as the heron kept coming for dinner and one very large orfe committed suicide by jumping out on to the back path and we unfortunately didn't find him in time. A couple of years ago we had a very long, strong frost period and when our pond finally thawed, it was full of dead frogs, poor things. The next-door neighbour had the same thing. Hope Lucky/Lucy continues to do well.

hi Kedi-Gato, how are you.my pond was frozen 4 days. fish are ok. Heron sits on our fence but flys off when it sees the plastic heron by the pond. I think he was a bit puzzled. I must look at the seeds(stones) you gave me and see how they are getting on.
