:D It was probably installed by one of the London rioters as part of his community service. No wonder Waterstones wasn't targeted. :)

I love the tag line underneath the main sign: 'working for a co-operative borough'. :heehee: Incidentally, why do we have to have asinine slogans plastered everywhere? Prior to its new mission statement, was Oldham working towards a totally uncooperative area? :WINK1: Does anyone actually think about this **** before they shove it everywhere? It's a bit like living in a kindergarten for the slow-witted. I half expect to see naughty people sitting underneath a painted rainy cloud (perhaps with the slogan 'working towards compliant citizens'.)

A while back I locked horns with a housing company which delighted in the following strap line:

'Working with central government and local authorities to develop effective accommodation based solutions to a wide range of vulnerable clients'

Ah yes, the 'accommodation based solution' for 'vulnerable' people. What the company was actually doing was acquiring run down rental properties so that it could shove crims on early release into them and then leave its tenants almost entirely to their own devices. I suggested to the company that its slogan was meaningless, had insufficient punch and should be amended as follows:-

    'Slums for skanks'.

Strangely, I never received a response.

Ah yes. The Welsh language offers many opportunies for signwriters to embarrass themselves. There was that one I posted a while back in which 'Cyclists Dismount' was translated into a load of nonsense about bladder disorders. It's a very touchy subject all round (translation, not cystitis, I mean), as we discovered when we got the Welsh language board to translate a simple sign for us. The only Welsh speaker in the office was very unhappy with its efforts, and got on the blower to his extended family in North Wales. Each member had his own version of things which he/she swore was the only correct one. Things got very tricky for a while.:)
