      Hello Fan Club
Mrs Shiney here.. I want to thank each and every one of you for your lovely heartwarming messages on the wonderful Flower Show yesterday.... I was so surprised when they announced that I had won Best in Show....

I was also in charge of the raffle - getting the prizes donated by local restaurants, nurseries, etc. and did very well. Also, at my suggestion, our gardening group donated jars of homemade marmalade, chutneys, jams (we got 9) which I put into a basket and wrapped in cellophane..... It looked really good and was much appreciated by the winner!! Other prizes were Sunday lunch for 2 (worth £40) at our local restaurant, a voucher from a nursery for £20, voucher for cream tea for 2, voucher from our local coach company for £20, sherry, wine, toiletries and other goodies.... I am sorry I was so busy I forgot to take a photo of the raffle table. The raffle raised £225.

Ariadae: No, I don't have a kiln. They are quite expensive and I can go and do classes for £5 per hour and someone more experienced can fire it..... and then I only pay by weight, which is very reasonable. I haven't made any pottery for ages, glassmaking took over. For that too I go to a lady nearby who makes glass and she lets me use her studio and fires stuff for a modest fee.....

I am now thinking of the other classes I could enter for next year's show..... But as with all things, you need to plan ahead, e.g. pot of ornamental grasses.....there was a Stipa Arundinacea which was fabulous.....

And I need to get loads of cuttings done for our Open Garden Plant sale next year... Never a dull moment....

      Happy gardening.......
