Wellâ?¦ Let me just qualify thatâ?¦.
Last November we purchased four small bare-rooted fruit trees, for container growing.
I potted them out and waitedâ?¦and waited.. and by early April there was no sign of life, but eventually they began to develop one after the other, but three were very slow and havenâ??t flowered.
This year, it looks like thereâ??ll be no Morello Cherries, Conference Pears, or Victoria Plums, but there will be Braeburn Apples!

    Well fiveâ?¦..

Ooooo that's great ! I am interested in fruit growing in containers too. I have a patio apricot, a blueberry and strawberries, but I am looking into a plum or an apple. How large do your 4 get DR ?

I'm sure they'll all come on with time, Doghouse.
    Enjoy the apples.
Do you have a pollinator somewhere else for the Braeburn or do they do well on their own ?

We bought these from Ideal World/Garden Bargains (same firm and we ain't proud). I think they still sell them.

They came with the big plastic tubs. They are supposed to grow only to 5ft. But we'll wait and see.
The "plan" is to keep them on the back patio behind the shed, but move them to the stepping-stones between the tea-house and the pagoda when they are in blossom so they can be seen from the house.

I think they're supposed to be self-pollinating Alice.
I don't know if this is correct, but the apple must have done and was the only one that flowered. All four trees are a a bit "weedy" at present but seem healthy enough.

These are they earlier in the year, on the patio in front of the wisteria, you can just about see them, they are quite small.
