    There I was sitting and reading when I started to hear one of those springy doorstops being twanged. And again. And again...

    I was wondering just who the heck was disturbing me, especially as I don't HAVE any doorstops when I happened to glance up out the window - it's a woodpecker! Battering a huge oak tree. Now I'm wondering if the branch is dead?!

    We have a resident woodpecker that likes the expensive wooden swing my son got for his 1st birthday.

      The only time I have seen a woodpecker was in Eire, it was I am sure a lesser spotted, but apparently they do not live in Eire, :rolleyespink:

      Last Spring I had a woodpecker pecking away on the TV arial on the roof - amazing sound!
