We got our first chickens yesterday, 3 hens at point of lay!

Within 2 hours of getting them, we had our first egg
Obviously one of the hens is just past point of lay. :)

Congratulations! Getting hens was one of the best things we've ever done. My only regret was that we didn't do it sooner.Once had a POL lay an egg on the way back to their new home. What breed are they?

Great move we have hens give us 4 eggs a day much better than super market one. We have just increased our numbers would you belive some one dumped 5 hens in the middle of nowhere poor thing are skinny and have lost lots of feathers , so have rescued them given them a feed and drink poor things were starving who would do such a thing

We've got a Sussex Star, Black Star and a Speckledy (I think).

The dogs are fascinated by them.

Hopefully get some piccies up soon.
