A kiwi Fruit tree - (morrisons £4) - aint got a clue what to do with it

are they frost hardy ? or will it be best in a large pot so we can take it in the green house in the winter

It says on the packet to grow it up a sunny fence - im thinking like a cherry tree - fanning it possibly ?

    Anyone else grown one ?

    Hi Carl,

I had one at the last place I lived.

They are quite hardy, this one only ever had small fruit though. They climb everywhere.

I would be cautious about hardiness, if I think of the previous 2 winters..
At least it needs the most sheltered spot you can find.

      any idea on the cultivar?

as that will be able to give us point of reference to look up for hardiness and whether it's self fertile etc.

That Kiwi looks nice Ziggy , I never knew they were a climber as well.
Hi Aesculus , think you will be lucky to get a cultivar type on a Supermarket cheapo plant. All the ones in Asda yesterday had exactly the same cultural instructions........"Water well before planting in full sun or partial shade . Green side on the top. " :snork:
