Him indoors and my son worked really hard last Friday while I took my grandson to the farm and when i got back the pergola was almost up!!!it was finished and painted the next day. We did have a laugh doing it though!!! Had a 'garden designer' come out last night as we were stuck with doinfg the hard landscaping bit. What a waste of time he was!Luckily it was free! still a waste of time though so i think its now back to the papare and pencil and working through an idea of our own.

    Well done that man!

It is so much better to do your own design - you are the best person to know how you are going to use it, think it out and don't be in too much of a rush.

We spent best part of £1,000 for our house plans and this was just initial visit, in the end we chucked them out and did it ourselves. People can make a living out of convincing you you are incapable. I am not saying all landscape gardeners are not worth their salt its just that some people need encouragement and not interferance and look how much fun you have had!

I agree with Waco, its cheaper and more fun to do it yourself. But also you learn much more because you start to question things.
